ADAMS 3rd album SEXPLOSION is now ready !The new opus will be pre-released in Europe on February 20th, for the 1st date of the huge SEXPLOSION TOUR.
Artistically provocative, but always in the most esthetic way, ADAMS tells the story of a new Genesis with two Adams, instead of Adam and Eve, committing the First Sin.
Now lets get started ! I want you to find out more about them by reading this interview , dedicated to japanese rock fans from Romania and from Europe as well . They have a quite interesting message for romanian fans.
1. Please guys introduce yourself to japanese music lovers from Romania , who are still unfamiliar with the band ? Hello! Thanks for your support! We are ADAMS, Neosexual Duo from Tokyo, Japan. We are ADAM (Vocal) and Shota (Guitar, production).
2. Who chose the name ` ADAMS`for the band ? Shota: I chose the name. As we are, in our concept, talking about a version of the Genesis based on "ADAM&ADAM" (not as men, as they are not human yet, but as entities without gender). Well, it's our way to express something Unisex, with no gender difference.
3. In which music genre would ADAMS music would fit the best ? Do you guys listen to visual kei music ? Electro-pop to Digital rock. But yes we listen to visual kei, especially the VK from 90's. We are absolutely fans of Kiyoharu. But to be honest we don't listen to the new bands so much. Visual kei scene was amazing at his beginning, when it was something different, kind of revolutionary.
4. ADAMS`s image is all about love right ?! Who came up with the idea of showing glimpses of homosexuality in the image of this band ? Do you think this is the highest point of the band's success ? Well... "Homosexuality" is a small part of what we call "Universal love". We don't talk about homosexuality. We talk about LOVE, generally speaking. Gender is nothing, only the feelings are true. But about the idea... well, let's be honest. Even with a strong message, good music, and a nice voice, in the HUGE Japanese music market, nobody will notice you. We have lots of genuinely great artists playing on the street in Japan. So we needed a concept. Japan has, as you know, a big anime/manga scene. Super big. Inside, there is a yaoi scene, which is small, but super active, super hot. It's the same for visual kei. Among the huge japanese music market, it's a niche. That's why we started with a BL ( Boys Love ) image and a little bit of Visual Kei style. I wanted a HOT and transgessive scene. It was the best way to spread both our music and message. And yes, it attracts people, and then they listen to our albums, come to our shows, then come back. It means our image is not the only reason of our success .
5. Who creates the music ? Its your own creation ? What inspires you in the process of writing music ? Shota: I do. I write the music and almost all the lyrics, but ADAM writes some lyrics too. I produce all our works through my label HIGHFeeL. My creative process is very simple. I'm inspired by feelings, silence, lonely times. And also all the music genres I listened all over the world.
6. Would you consider ADAMS a revolutionary band who`s trying to give and show freedom of expression for people when comes to sexuality ? Or it is only for the image ? We are artists, we create beautiful things, images, videos, messages. People understand it as they want. But we hope it can bring something positive about freedom of expression. We had very good experiences. Some people told us how our message was important. A man in Russia came to us to thank us, so sincerely, we were so moved. I think we are artists, open minded, "humanists". Well, "human". That's all.
7. Since 2011 when you guys started the band, how was the feedback ? How was in Europe and Japan ? In fact... back in 2011 we NEVER expected to go to Europe or Latin America as we did last year. ADAMS was created for Japan. And then something happened. We got some fans, then support pages online, then a promoter contacted us, and finally now HIGHFeeL (Shota's label) is also in Europe and we have a booking agency in the United States. And when we arrive somewhere, our fans are waiting for us, and they are amazing. Warm, great, they sing our songs, they know everything. It's a feeling we can never forget.
8. What is the reason people should listen to your band ? Music? Sound? Videos? Because we are ADAMS? (laugh). Well... I think people should take some time and listen to ADAMS. Because it's very cool.
9. Would you like to visit Romania someday ? We hope !!! We applied for some festival, we don't have a final answer yet but in the future we will probably go there, for sure.
